Incredible Avocado Benefits!

Wow, When it comes to nutrition, avocado fruit is in a class by themselves because of the unusually large number of benefits they offer; they are loaded with fiber, potassium and countless vitamins. Simply the avocado is a true superfood! Its creamy pulp is an excellent source of mono-unsaturated fatty acids like oleic and palmitoleic acids as well as omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid, linoleic acid. It also includes vitamins, A and E, that are essential for the health of our body parts, such as the; skin, eyes, heart, brain, and liver. In addition, avocados are also excellent sources of minerals like iron, copper, magnesium, and manganese.

Quick Fact! Did you know that Avocados contain Magnesium?

Magnesium is essential for bone strengthening and has a cardiac-protective role as well.

Manganese used by the human body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Iron and copper required for the production of red blood cells

Avocados also have a good protein content!

Protein is found in every cell and tissue, and along with healthy fats, protein plays many critical roles in keeping you alive and healthy. Without it you would lack the building blocks needed for all tissue repair, critical enzymes and hormones you need for all of your metabolic functions, and antibodies that help your body defend against infections. Most adults need about 10 to 11 ounces of a protein food each day.  The best way to eat this is to have two portions daily of 4 to 5 ounces each of a protein food. In addition, avocados contribute unsaturated “good” fats, and good fats can help the body absorb fat-soluble nutrients Vitamins A, D, K, and E. Research studies suggest that the Mediterranean diet which is rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids help lower LDL or bad cholesterol and increase HDL or good cholesterol, and thereby, help prevent coronary artery disease as well as stroke risk through favoring healthy blood lipid profile. Good fats help the body absorb fat-soluble nutrients without raising LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels when eaten as part of a healthy diet. Healthy avocados contain 6 g of naturally good fat per serving – one-third of a medium avocado.
